Panagia Gremniotissa

Panagia Gremniotissa is perhaps one of the most picturesque churches on Ios Island, and is a fabulous place to watch the sunset in Ios. The church stands on the highest point of the main village of Chora, and has a white bell tower with a blue dome roof. A tall palm tree stands in the courtyard next to the church.

The church was built in 1797, and a festival is held here on the 15th of August each year.

There is an amazing view of the entire village of Chora from Panagia Gremniotissa. To the right, you can also see the Port of Ios and Yialos beach, and further to the island of Sikinos.

Panagia Gremniotissa church is one of the most photographed sights in Ios Greece.
