Yialos beach (or Gialos) is the main beach at the Port in Ios. It is a popular, spacious and sandy beach, and is about 500m long. Yialos is a great anchorage for cabin cruisers and small yachts, and hence it can get quite busy during peak season in Ios Greece.
From Yialos, you can take a walk to the beautiful church of Agia Irini. This is a lovely Byzantine church which has two bell towers at each end and two domes, a large one in the middle of the church, and a smaller one over the eastern side of the church. From Agia Irini you can also walk south to Valmas Beach, where you will find a taverna and a quiet beach.
At the other end of Yialos beach, you can also continue walking to Koumbara beach. There is a wonderful view of the sea and the traditional white houses of the Port along this walk. You can see Sikinos Island in the distance too.
